An RAF plane carrying 1m euros is flying to Cyprus from Britain as a "contingency measure" to provide military personnel with emergency loans, the Ministry of Defence says.

The move comes after a controversial one-off levy of up to almost 10% on savings in Cyprus was announced.

The money will be used for British personnel and their families if cash machines and debit cards stop working.

I read about that levy - they do that here and I'm off down to kick in No10's door with the rest  of the restrained English folk who've had enough.

This is theft. Nothing more, nothing less. It will do more damage to the Cypriot economy than they can ever imagine. What will the banks do when people stop depositing money for fear of the same thing happening in other countries as well ?

It was the EU led by Angela Merkel that imposed the levy. However, anyone keeping up to date with the news would know that it has not been passed by the Cyprus Government.

Nobody will have to kick down the door of No10 as, in case you had not noticed, Mr Cameron is the only one opposing these moves by the EU.
