With the trusted help of Kered.. who spent most of yesterday installing my new dongle as i has nothing but trouble..!! (no change there then i hear you say)  :-\

Yes it works and works well.. Got my DVT mini stick from some very nice Chinese people who sent it PDQ - but the install was simple according to the instructions  ::) , if you just want the TV then yes. I will state now for the hard of seeing - DON'T PUT THE DISC IN THAT COMES WITH IT..if your going for the radio option. use the s/ware that is better suited.

Lots of file changes, lots of renaming etc.. way beyond me.

But it seems that the usual install time is about 30-60 minutes tops, but my knackered out lappy was slow and at times painful - but we got there in the end.
But with the use of team viewer and Skype made it a lot more simple, So the point is, the radio works well - going to take some getting used to leaving the old Sony -7 at home and using the PC instead.

So if you feel like going in that direction, you wont look back for £6- its another world and dimension to the hobby. The helps there if you need it - I did.Just ask.

So thanks Kered for your time, patience and expert help.   ;D

I will tap you up very soon for some tuition though.

Cheers.

I've written a Guide to using a DVB-T USB stick (aka Dongle) as a low cost ADS-B receiver using Jetvision's RTL1090.  It isn't published yet but this is one of the most important requirements:

Setting Up

To use the DVB-T receiver for ADS-B there are some important things to bear in mind.

1.   You need to use a particular USB driver.  Do not use the supplied drivers or software.

2.   You will need software to tune and decode the received 1090 MHz data to track aircraft and feed to Flightradar24.com.

Please avoid the temptation to plug the receiver into a spare USB port and use it as intended – a digital TV tuner.  Throw away the supplied software CD.

Both. To use it as a SDR on the full band the dongle can cover.

Unfortunately, I have already installed the softwares supplied in the CD - to watch TV and listen to FM stations.

What should I do next ? Pardon, my stupid question. LOL

I have spent many hours trying to remove those CD drivers and have failed, even after extensive editing to the Registry.

I had to use the USB stick on a different PC.

If anyone knows how to remove the drivers, I would be most grateful.

What worked for me was connecting the offending dongle, then going into "Device Manager", then into "Drivers" on the entry for the dongle, and doing an "Uninstall Driver". Next remove the dongle and reboot the pc. Reconnect the dongle and immediately stop Windows from searching for the drivers, then use the SonicGoose setup tutorial.

Editing the Registry with the dongle removed, as you have experienced, was no help at all.

Hope this helps

If you know the date of the install you can restore the system to an earlier date, if not this might help
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730875.aspx

Also on some windows instalations if you boot in safe mode(with admin rights) and check out the device manager a full list of all the drivers installed appears under each device, quite often some are repeated so you have to uninstall all copies.

Tried that numerous times to no avail.
