Extra layers cause delays at Manchester Airport

Holidaymakers are facing delays at security at Manchester Airport – because of their winter woollies.Officials say many passengers are wearing extra layers of clothing to keep warm during the cold weather, but are having to remove them at security.

That slows down the security process at departures and means queues are getting longer. Airport chiefs are now asking people to take off extra layers, mainly jackets and coats, before they get to the security area.

Getting through security is slow enough at Manchester anytime - I avoid going there where possible. People with pushchairs get priority!
