HUNDREDS of lives were put in jeopardy when a laser pen was shone into the cockpit of an aeroplane as it came in to land at Heathrow.

Police admitted receiving reports of pilots being targeted as planes landed and took off on March 25 and said they were determined to put a stop to it.

A British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) spokesman said: "There have been numerous incidents where laser pens have dazzled the eyes of both the pilot and the co-pilot and the aircraft has been put at risk.

"This is a very worrying and growing phenomenon. It is extremely dangerous."

The culprit(s) if caught, should be punished by having the laser bean shined on their eyes for 12 hours.
