A hang-glider pilot has been left with serious injuries after crashing on landing on a hillside.

The 31-year-old was hang-gliding at Long Mynd, a beauty spot at Church Stretton, Shropshire, when he crashed on landing on Sunday evening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man had suffered injuries to his neck and back.

He was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment but his condition is not known.
