As I don't have an SBS-3 I'm relying on feedback from others.

Have you read this message thread on Kinetic's forum, particularly Satcom's advice?

I have just updated that page with a procedure that might solve Peter's problem

Hi Mike

Still in communication with John, but little progress I'm afaraid.
Does anyone know the correct details to put into the SBS3 non vol mem page please?
The IP address is obviously the one I allocated within my local network.

Subnet 255.255.255.0. That hasn't been touched, so presumably correct

Gateway is standard and hasn't been touched.

Main Port 10001. Is this correct or should it be 30006?

NMEA port 30007, no idea what this is, it hasn't been touched.

Speed 10 or 100MB, mine is 100, but has been 10, can see no difference

Full duplex ticked, hasn't been altered, don't know what effect it has

Auto Negotiate unticked, no idea what it does.

"Stand Alone data" all 4 ticked, but I don't think that they are relevant to this problem?

Thanks

Peter

Not having an SBS-3 I can't be much help I'm afraid.

I'm sure John will persevere with you.

Does PP work OK if you connect via USB or can't you easily check due to the siting of the receiver?

As per John's last suggestion, changed the SBS/non vol mem/main port from 10001 to 30006. Result, SBS will NOT connect at all.
Changed back to 10001 again, all OK again.

Running on USB: With BaseStation running, PP set to 127.0.0.1:30006, both local + network traffic.
Shut both down, reboot PP, ONLY network traffic, my own is missing.

Switch to Ethernet:
Shutdown BaseStation
Set PP to IP of SBS + 30006, ONLY network traffic as above.
Set PP to IP of SBS + 10001, both my local + network traffic

A complete mystery!

See my latest post on the Kinetic forum....re hardware settings in Basestation

satcom

OK the clincher in this issue seems to be the hardware settings box in Basestation

Settings........ Hardware settings ..................Network.....make sure the IP address and port number match those you have put in the non vol mem settings.

Confirming my SBS3 running on Ethernet is now fully talking to PP thanks to John's help. As he says, not only do you have to alter the "main port" setting in non vol memory settings, you must make the same alterations in the "settings/hardware/network" box!
Hope that this will help anyone else running on ethernet set up everything correctly first time around.

Well done John and Peter.

Maybe Kinetic should update the Reference Manual as I'm sure this will pop up again somehwere.
