Lack of communication from Captain on an Easyjet flight

Last week my wife and I flew to Luqa, Malta on an Easyjet flight and returned yesterday on another Easyjet flight.

On the flight down the Captain was very chatty, introducing his first officer and all the cabin crew, giving ETA and Wx at Luqa, pointing out interesting places and giving other facts.

On the flight back the Captain merely introduced himself as the Captain and said he would leave us in the capable hands of the cabin crew. After that we heard nothing from him apart from instructions to the crew - no ETA, interesting features to be seen or Wx at destination. I noticed that the FO spent some time in the cabin chatting with the cabin crew and drank his coffee there.

I found the Captain's lack of communication quite odd.

I've experienced similar flights.  Some Captains like to chat, some don't.  I really don't think it's any more than that.
