Hi Guys...first post, please be gentle. Basically all my gear is upstairs but I also want to see my SBS on the kitchen TV.
At the moment it is just a normal TV but if we get a smart TV can I then just get a router and send the signal downstairs ?

If so is it then a case of just connecting the router via the ethernet port to the SBS unit, (SBS1e)?

Thanks in advance....Habu

Where would you running the BaseStation software to display the data from the SBS-1e?

Rather than a smart TV why not buy a less expensive tablet .....

You could then send the screen from your Basestation down to the tablet using Teamviewer and at the same time have full control of Basestation.
In addition , if you wanted to view TV at anytime you could use the free TVCatchup app

The additional advantage is that doing it this way you don't need any antenna cabling into the kitchen for the TV side of things....and of course you can wander around the house with the tablet and still see your Basestation screen .

Hi ANMER...my laptop and SBS are upstairs as the cable runs into the upstairs room....my office come den.

Habu

Hi satcom....I would be fine just having it on the kitchen TV as opposed to roaming so just what gear would I need ?

Your smart TV is, essentially, a monitor that connects to your local network, via Ethernet cable or WiFi.  It's not a computer and, as far as I know, cannot run the BaseStation software or remote desktop functionality, such as Teamviewer.

So from what you are saying Teamviewer, (which I'd not heard of until today) is a possible solution ?

Anmer

I don't think Teamviewer is an option.

But I may be wrong.

But maybe you could run Virtual Radar Server on the same PC as BaseStation and make it available to view via a browser on the smart TV?

Habu,

A smart TV is not just a monitor with ethernet. My main TV is a Panasonic with Smart Viera system that plays games, has a browser and also has many apps available.  I believe it has a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor and its system is Linux based.

You may be interested in the following which shows how to connect a smart TV to a remote PC via Teamviewer.

A smart TV is not just a monitor with ethernet.

I used the word "essentially".  It's akin to a smart phone.

But as Tom suggests, if you can run a browser, Teamviewer could be an option.

Once you have teamviewer running on the Basestation PC , bear in mind you can also send it to your iphone/tablet  wherever you might be....

See my thread here...

The image shows the PlanePlotter screen but it could just as easily be your Basestation output.

You could also try cromecast or something like it. You have an app on PC, Phone etc which sends image via a dongle which plugs into HDMI of the TV.

I have a miracast ' clone' one on order, it is not here yet, but will let you know how it goes.

info on the dongle here:

A smart TV usually has a browser
If it does Virtual radar server upstairs and view that data on the smart tv via the internet browser downstairs.
