An RAF pilot told a US Air Force plane he "had every right to be there" after being accused of flying too close to US parachutists in Norfolk, a report said.

A US Hercules from Mildenhall, Suffolk was training over Sculthorpe in Norfolk at the same time an RAF Tornado was flying nearby in November

Love or hate them, they bailed us out in two World Wars and the Falklands.

Having aid that, I watched them fly right through the parachute drop zone at Sibson once, unannounced!

Really?

The USA didn't enter WWI until 1917 and then not to help the UK.

Whilst I value the sacrifices made by US forces in WWII they came into the fray when Britain had passed its worst days of trying to keep the Nazis from our shores and they made us pay for materiel on lend-lease; the huge bill was finally cleared when the final payment of $83.3 million (£42.5 million),  was made on 29 December 2006. We also gave them the Magnetron, the jet engine and other technology as part of lend-lease repayments.

Don't forget Suez.  ;)

Another fine mess we got ourselves into.

With the help of the Americans - who first encouraged us but then condemned us at the UN forcing us to withdraw!

That's not what my history books show.

But then again, we can always find something to support different recollections.

And we're drifting off topic now.
