Short of formatting the laptop I cannot see a way of sorting this  :'(

I wouldn't go the reformat route yet.

Do you have access to another PC/laptop, even a friend's, where you can test the DVB-T sticks?

OK .. Got it working.

I removed the drivers.

Deleted out ALL the old RTL1090 files.

Used  RTL1090 - IMU (Installer and Maintenance Utility)

Followed the instructions (again lol).

Ran RTL1090 and BINGO it worked. :)

Stopped RTL1090 removed new dongle.

Inserted Old Dongle, ran RTL1090 and BINGO - it works!

Looks like removing the RTL and drivers and reinstalling did the trick :)

Good to know you got it working and sharing how.

I suspect the drivers were OK and RTL1090 was the issue.  RTL1090 launched OK and found the device.  If the drivers are bad, it doesn't find the DVB-T.
