I have never posted on here before but an issue with AD Pro and Basestation has been bothering me for some time now.
It concerns the route look up for aircraft with callsigns. AD seems very sparse on returning a successful route. Averaging around 1 in 20.
I have used flight display before but that has the same results.
On flightradar 24 virtually all the callsigns return a successful route lookup. What lookup services do they use? Is there no way to incorporate their lookups into Basestation?
I find the ability for route lookups a great addition to Basestation but I have never been able to get the desired results.

Welcome.

FR24 has a number of route sources, some from aviation industry suppliers for which, I assume, they pay.  Accurate routes are an integral part of FR24's commercial offering and an asset which it will protect.

AD and Flight Display used "look up" scripts to trawl the Internet for a result which was then populated to a database,  But the introduction of alpha-numeric "ATC" callsigns which were different to published flight numbers made route lookups more difficult (and for FR24 too) and more gaps appeared.  And each year most airlines publish summer and winter schedules with new or changed routes with accompanying callsigns and flight numbers.  And since both AD and Flight Display are no longer supported by their original developers, their scripts are failing at an increasing rate.

Unfortunately the only way I know to incorporate FR24 routes in BaseStation is to manually edit the relevant routes database.

Thanks for the reply.

I remember the alpha-numeric ATC callsigns causing problems when they started appearing way back.

Is there anyway to get hold of a up to date route database file to import into AD that can be edited as time goes on?

Maybe someone has a file they can share with you?
