I think there may be a problem with the AD server as I can only get AD tio work this morning if I switch off auto-populate and route look up.

Good afternoon ,
Just hoped someone could help me.
I'm having problems downloading the flags.
When I try to download latest countries.dat files it says cannot connect to the server.
So no flags

Many Thanks
Paul

Do you have country flags in your BMPFlags folder?

Where are they not appearing?  In AD and/or BaseStation?

Basestation.
it's weird , because the ad has always worked well but just tried again and  says cannot connect to server.Or countries.dat failed.

Thanks Paul.

Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to isolate the issue.

If you don't run AD, do you see the country flags in BaseStation?  If not, is there a Countries.dat file in the BaseStation folder and flags in the BMPFlags folder?

>>I'm having problems downloading the flags.<<

AD has been reporting this problem for some time, the reason being that the third party source website isn't operational any more.  That's why AD says it cannot connect to the server.   I believe the flags and other downloads have very recently been moved to a new server but have not yet seen any announcement of the new URL.  So it will be possible to download them manually, but until someone can be found to change the relevant AD coding on its server, AD will continue to refuse to download what can't be found.

Are you suggesting that AD's country flags are always populated from Bones' hosted website and not from the local BaseStation flags folder?

In other words, does AD rely on the availability of remote files to run successfully at all times or only to check for recent updates?

If it's the former, this presents a significant reliance on third party data which cannot be guaranteed, as witnessed by Bones' data which has not been available since February 201.  And, from what I read on the Kinetic forum, is still not available despite him finding a new hosting provider.

AD itself seems to run perfectly OK at the moment. I have AD running and have never had recourse to trying a download of the flags etc. I keep mine up-to-date from bones sources but by loading them from his site. In the whole time of that link not being available my copy of AD has performed normally, finding every flAg as necessary as it comes up. There must be more going on with this case not getting flags showing. Have they got a copy of the relevant file in their basestation folder to start with...

Bones does have a new site, it's not fully working yet but flags and CDF can be downloaded

But not by Active Display.

Roadrunner

Hi All,

Active display does not appear to be running properly this morning. It took 5 minutes for the screen to come up with just one aircraft in it. Since then I have tried stopping the AP and RL options to see if it is server related, as closing them usually gets it running but not doing route or new aircraft look-ups.

Thanks Ian, Caravelle on the Kintetic site has said the server may be down but it appears to be running again now (13:20)
