Confusion surrounds the fate of a Russian airliner carrying more than 200 people that went missing after taking off from Egypt's Sinai peninsula.

One report said the plane, flying to Russia from Sharm al-Sheikh, had reappeared over Turkey.

But other reports in the Egyptian media said it had crashed in Sinai, while a Russian report said it had gone missing near Cyprus.

Most passengers are Russian tourists.

Could be KGL9268, A321 EI-ETJ of Kolavia.  Not confirmed.

If the data can be relied upon, extreme loss and increase in altitude just before the messages cease.
