Can anyone explain why Miss Milly Bar has been replaced by a Mr Hector Pascal.

Is it some jobsworth in the EU attempt at tongue tying Air Traffic Controllers or is there a genuine reason for the change?

I beleive it is a CAA directive to align us with the continent and in particular the French.

Thanks for your reply. Yet another SI unit we have to comply to. I was prompted to ask the question when overhearing conversation between pilot and ATC.  "What exactly is a hectapascal?" asked the pilot "Nearly a millibar and it does not exactly roll off the tongue." was the reply.

It is amusing to hear the different pronunciation of hectopascal.
