Tarbat is asking for advice on an alternative ModeS receiver to his RadarBox.

It seems the lack of an Ethernet port has finally become an issue.

"If I can find software that gives me as good or better user interface as the products I currently use, I would seriously consider a network connected ModeS receiver.  I've stopped using Radarbox at the moment because of it's lack of network connection."

I could suggest a couple of options, such as the SBS-1/3 models that have an Ethernet port or maybe the Beast or microADSB that have this as an optional upgrade?  But as I'm banned from posting on Radarspotters maybe someone else can help him?

I've known Air Nav to stone you for lesser comments.  One of Brandao's tame users defecting, is this the beginning of the end?

To clarify, I'm looking for advice on alternative software.  Specifically, any details about:
        -ADSBScope
        -EuroScope
        -Globe-S Airfield Edition
        -srv30003
        -VirtualRadar

If I can find software that gives me as good or better user interface as the products I currently use, I would seriously consider a network connected ModeS receiver.  I've stopped using Radarbox at the moment for no other reason that it's lack of network connection.  Running ShipTrax on a network connection has made an office move possible, but at the expense of using the Radarbox.

Surely, if you're looking for Ethernet connectivity, you need a new receiver?

Unless I'm mistaken, new software alone won't provide the connectivity you seek?

Correct.  But I'm not looking for advice on receivers, I know what is on the market.  Their differentiating factors are easily understood (sensitivity, output streams, range, etc).

The area I'm struggling to research is the software solutions that can read a ModeS network stream.  I know about Planeplotter and Basestation, but now see mention of other software solutions such as ADSBScope, EuroScope, Globe-S, etc. and need to understand what these software solutions can do.

As you know, I'm a great fan of the functionality and user interface of Radarbox and ShipTrax (sorry, mustn't mention ships!!), so if I can find software that can offer a similar "user experience", then I will consider using a ModeS receiver with ethernet interface.  I thought that maybe these other software solutions may offer that similar "user experience".

There are links here to some of the software you mention.

Maybe Google the others, some of which are available when you purchase an appropriate Mode-S receiver.

Thanks.  Yes, I've aleady Google'd, but these five software solutions seem to elude my every effort to find screenshots and/or functional descriptions.  I had hoped that maybe someone had used these, and could offer a view on the pros/cons of each software solution.  I don't want to risk buying an ethernet capable receiver until I'm sure what other software it can be used with other than Basestation or Planeplotter, and what that software can do.

I've used Globe-S and it's pretty impressive.  There's a 10 minute demo version so you can get a feel for it.

adsbScope is freeware and can be downloaded but I don't know if it will work with your current receiver?

So too is EuroScope and there's even a Wiki for it.

I think Google is your fried.  You just need to make the effort.  ;)

Thanks Mike.  I have tried to make the effort!!

I'm just looking for something that displays a map, list of aircraft, aircraft details and aircraft photos.  Network is unimportant to me.  If it's possible to combine aircraft (ADS/B) and ships (AIS NMEA) onto the same map/list/details/photos, then that would be perfect.  Does anything do that?

You said you wanted something with networking capabilities.

"I've stopped using Radarbox at the moment because of it's lack of network connection"

Now you're saying "Network is unimportant to me".

Make up your mind.
