I'm currently in the process of setting up base station on another laptop, going from Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit. Obviously I've encountered all the issues with the virtual store and I think have managed to get around it.

I was wondering if it's possible for the settings to come across from my old machine, ie fonts, which columns selected etc, as I'm struggling to get this to work. Would anyone know which file, if any, in the base station folder contains the settings? I have tried copying the whole folder across but it is taking in excess of half an hour for it to open for some reason. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

The BaseStation.ini file has the settings you need.  Copy this file.  I can't recall if there's an "active" one in the Virtual Store as I avoid that location.

You also need the UserData folder for the xsl and css files. And your Outlines, Waypoints etc folders.

I'd copy the BaseStation Folder and subfolders across and then check the Virtual Store for any "active" files.  Copy them and replace those in the new location.

Create a new Folder called Kinetic outside of Program Files and place the BaseStation folder and sub-folders there.

Cheers Amner, I'll copy that file across hopefully will work fingers crossed!

Any idea why it would take so long for base station to load up when I copy the whole of the base station folder across from my old machine? On the old one it takes 30 seconds, but is taking in excess of half an hour on the new one. I would have thought if it was a corrupt file it would be slow on both of them?

Is the new PC a much lower spec?  Processor and memory?

Or you have some bad or unexpected data in one of the folders?

The new one is actually far superior to the old one. I don't think it's bad data as I've literally just copied and pasted the base station folder from my old machine.

I did read a suggestion on here about copying a folder at a time, and opening base station after each one, hopefully this should flag up which folder is causing the slow loading.

Rename each folder, one at a time, to, for example, "OutlinesOld".  Then make a new, empty folder "Outlines".  Then start BaseStation.

Just to update, now got it working as required. Creating its own menu path that doesn't involve program files worked, and the issue with the slow loading was resolved by opening base station after copying each file, to see which one caused the slow loading. Turned out it was my SQB that was causing the problem. I packed the SQB, and it's now loading really quickly. Thanks for all the help.
