I apologise for this off topic request but is anyone else having problems with McAfee today following the update of same date. Both myself and a neighbour have been getting messages that my PC is at risk and it will not allow me into the program to correct it. I am running Windows 10. I can't even access the McAfee virtual technician program either.

Hi Mike

Unfortunately, or fortunately, I don't use McAfee.

What error message do you get and when?  Can you post a screen capture?

Was the update an auto one via McAfee?

Hi Mike, sorry for not getting back but has been hectic. Whatever the problem my friend and I had, mine sorted itself out later in the day but my friend could not get his working until the following day - and only after a complete removal and re-installation.

Neither of us got any error messages as such, The program would just not run regardless of from where we tried to run it. But it had closed itself down and we were getting "your PC is at risk" showing. From the settings /security we could see that Defender was on (normally off with McAfee running) and McAfee was off and nothing we could do would set McAfee on and for it to stay on.  I closed it from the task manager and after a shut down and reboot later it worked OK. It was noticed that there had been updates on both our machines overnight (both  McAfee and Windows 10) but another older laptop in the house did not get the updates and did not stop working.! Anyway all OK now Thank you.
