Help with networking SBS-1er

One thing you may want to check.

Start Task Manager and make sure there's definitely nothing running such as a background version of Basestation.  I have known this to happen.

Update

I had a remote connect session with alpha60uk and can confirm everything was setup correctly.

ModeSMixer2 can successfully connect to the SBS-1eR and Basestation connects to ModeSMixer.  But no aircraft display.

I was using an SBS-3.  So I swapped out the SBS-3 and replaced it with an SBS-1eR.  And I experienced the same issue as alpha60uk.

Then I remembered the SBS-3 has raw data output but the SBS-1eR doesn't.  So after digging around various forum posts I tried different outServer settings, to no avail.

Then suddenly, after changing the BAT back as shown below, Basestation started to display aircraft.

I made another remote connection to alpha60uk but still no joy.  MSM2 connects to the SBS-1eR and Basestation to MSM2.  But no data!

Is anyone else using MSM2 with an SBS-1eR?

I'm sure I used to run 2 (maybe3!)  instances of basestation off MSM in the past so had a dig around old configs.
I think this is what I used:

--inConnect 192.168.0.170:10001 --outServer sbs10001:10002 --outServer sbs10001:10003 --outServer sbs10001:10004

So MMS connects to the SBS1-eR on port 10001 and then I output on different unique ports for each basestation instance, 10002, 10003 and 10004.
Note my SBS IP address is 192.168.0.170 not 192.168.1.170 so change that as necessary.

I'm fairly sure those outServer arguments used to work for me.

Thanks Keef.  They look good to me and we're replicating part of the same.

Everything connects, just no data stream.  Maybe it's the router firewall but I was unable to gain access to the router admin. Hopefully that will be resolved soon and we can take a look.

Hi Anmer, the command line you have is correct and should work. The only thing I can suggest is a repeat of my message yesterday:

Also, review Faramir's post #41. You may need to start BaseStation, point the network setting to the SBS1 - 192.168.1.170, close BaseStation, re-open it, let the feed start. Change the IP address to 192.168.1.226, close BaseStation. Start MSM2 and then finally BaseStation, that might fix the "no green LED" issue.

Seeing as to begin with you were using an SBS-3 and not the 1eR, that may explain why you could stop and start the programs at will. The router firewall is a good point but if it's the same for you and you are using a different router (I assume) then that would seem to be a very unlucky coincidence. What about the windows Firewall does MSM2 need to be allowed through?

Did you try the sequence above? When you say no data I assume the "no green LED" is still the issue?

I wasn't able to check for any green light on my SBS as it's upstairs and the PC is down.  And for the remote connect I couldn't see anything 

The ModeSMixer2 window clearly shows it's connected to the SBS-1eR and shows the Basestation login.  The Basestation window shows "Connected to SBS-1".  Same for alpha60uk and my setup.

I don't think Basestation retains any connection history so my previous setup with the SBS-3 and then SBS-1eR shouldn't make any difference.  But I could be wrong.

And I ran through all the changes you suggested.

alpha60uk has a BT Home Hub, same as mine.  As soon as the Admin login issue is resolved I'll take a look at the router setup.

I've also messaged sergsero but he's not been on the forum since early last year.

Yes, I use the SBS-1eR with MSM2. It's started with a shortcut on the desktop without any batch file. My command line for the tool is
C:\Kinetic\BaseStation\modesmixer2.exe --inConnect 192.168.2.202:10001 --outServer SBS10001:10001
The 192.168.2.202:10001 is the address:port of the SBS-1eR. The version of ModeSMixer2 is v.20190413.
As it does what it's supposed to do I see no point in getting the latest version. Perhaps worth a try with this 'old' version?

I don't think the issue is related to the SBS model or ModeSMixer version.  My SBS-1eR is working OK with ModeSMixer2 Version 20180616.

If thne naming convention references the release date, your version 20190413 may be newer?

Honestly, I don't remember where I got it.

Maybe verify  the Message Filtering settings? (Data Settings -> SBS-1 tab), my settings:

Ignore NON ADS-B Mode-S Messages: unchecked
Process Mode-S Air-to-Air  Replies: checked
Process TIS-B Messages: checked
Process ADS-R Messages: checked

I did think of that and noted alpha60uk's were all unchecked.

I unchecked mine, closed and relaunched Basestation which ran OK.

Hi Dean,

Try to start Basestation and connect via the network to the SBS-1. The green LED should be on. Then start ModeSMixer2.exe on the host computer. After this, change BaseStation's connection to the ModeSMixer2 host (keep BaseStation running). The green LED goes off but should come on again after ModeSMixer2 shows the SBS-1 LOGIN OK message.
I did this a minute ago and the green LED is on after the switch.
