119.730.

It just means that they've gone to a 8.33 kHz channel. The actual frequency has not changed - you still need to tune to 119.725 MHz.

No problem Graham.

This has caused a lot of confusion. The controller instructs the pilot to call Director on 119.730. The pilot selects 119.730 on his radio but, when he presses the button he is transmitting (and receiving) on 119.725.  119.780 is a 8.33 kHz "channel" - when selected it ensures that the correct narrow filters are selected in the aircraft radio.

Thank you for that Tim,having started this thread I did monitor 119.725 for a brief time and admit to becoming confused,not an unusual occurrence ( ::), to find that the frequency was in fact still in use but your erudite reply has enabled me to understand a
more fully the intricacies  of the 8.33mhz. spacing.
