AirNav Systems Bans RadarBox user "Birdie" from the AirNav Forum.

For talking about the "share" option on the RadarBox software on the AirNav Systems Forum.

**********************************************
AirNav banned me in their forum.

My "crime" ?

- " for trying to cause trouble there. "

What I did there to get banned ?

- exposed their software for stealing my Data from my AirNav Radarbox 3D -
- even though I UNCHECKED " Share Flight Data " .

So another RadarBox "owner" gets censored for speaking the truth and exposing AirNav's dirty tricks?

What a surprise.

Surely repeatedly overriding the owner's preference not to share data is in contravention of one's human rights?

Maybe we should open a "fighting fund" and get some legal advice?

I've no love for AirNav, having been one of the earliest to be banned from their forum, but I cannot see how they can be accused of 'stealing' data. You purchase the hardware and software from them and the software contains an option to upload data to their servers, which always resets to on. This may be an inconvenience, but it is not illegal.

I'm sure anyone who tries, can find Dave Reid's utility to automatically switch off data upload on startup of ANRB.

Option is probably the wrong word in this context.  The data share should be set to OFF and the option should be for the user to turn it ON, thereby agreeing for their data to be used. As for not allowing people to mention Dave's excellent programme on the Air Nav Forums shows me that Air Nav is not playing on a level playing field.  It's OK to take peoples data but you can't show a way of defaulting it to OFF for convenience sake.

Double standards from Brandao yet again.

I'm not so sure about that and I'll keep progressing this.

Waters & Stanton said their RadarBox advertising wasn't misleading.  The ASA disagreed.

C'mon, Mike. That's a totally different argument. W&S were not found guilty of a criminal offence, were they? It was a failure to comply with advertising standards.

I'm not suggesting W&S was guilty of a criminal offence.

My point is that AirNav is stealing data.  Others may disagree, just as W&S claimed it wasn't misleading consumers.

I'll progress this as far as I can with the appropriate authorities.

I sell you the BEST Door Lock in the market.

The LOCK is automatically ( By Default ) set to  " OPEN " - but you have the Option to put it to " Lock " position.

However, whenever you closed your door, it is reset to " OPEN " position again - so I the LOCK MAKER can enter your house ANYTIME I like !

This is AirNav " North Korea " attitude.

Can you imagine if the President of The United States of America introduce an Opt-out Option:

" It is good that each American contribute USD 1.00 per month towards his re-election fund, with an Option to " Uncheck " to Opt-out , but next Week, your Bank Account is AUTOMATICALLY opted-In for the deduction. "

Anmer,

Tomorrow, 19 December 2013 is the First (1st) Anniversary of my being banned in AirNav Forum.

Shall we hold a party here to celebrate it by popping some champagne ?
