Hello everyone,

As I will try to promote PlanePlotter in some spotters groups, I first want to know if using 1090MHz receivers are legal in combination with PlanePlotter in Belgium?

Best regards,
Tibo

It may be legal to own and use a receiver in some countries and in others it is not.  In some it may be legal to own but not to use or share received data.

Are there any dedicated websites or forums for aircraft spotters in Belgium?

Yes there are, but on most of them the post gets deleted when the subject is something about receivers.
I will try to ask again.

You could always start your own forum for virtual radar in belgium.

There must be more than one of you in your country that has a receiver but does not want to go public about it.

Help is always at hand to guide you if you need it.

It looks like Flightradar24.com has many feeders in Belgium.

I don't think I will have the time to maintain it + need a host.
Would be nice if there was a subforum here :)

That's possible, but will be useless for Mlat/PP.
But I can try to contact them.

My point is there are lots of people in Belgium using Mode-S receivers and sharing data.

Yes, but not with PlanePlotter I think.
I asked it on a Belgian spotters commmunity.

If Belgians are sharing data with Flightradar24, I do not see why they can't with PP.

Me neither, so that's why I am asking them to do so. ;)

Always practice " See nothing, hear nothing and say nothing " - everything will go on fine.

If you ask a civil servant, their reply is always "NO". By saying "NO" they don't have to work.

Just simply use it until they found out.

1090 MHz receiver ? What about the 2450 MHz receivers / transmitters ( Wireless routers ) - and 2450 MHz Microwave Oven ?

To give "Unique Coverage of WSSS" in www.Radarbox24.com !

Okay it seems that it's legal to receive and listen to the signals, but it's illegal to have such receivers.
That's what I wanted to know so I can give an answer when someone asks me something about it.

Is it wise to start a PlanePlotter group for Belgium on Facebook or Yahoo?
That way, it's a good place to meet other users and promote the system.

How can it be legal to legal to receive and listen to the signals but illegal to own the means to do so?

For example in Austria its ilegal to share AIS (the Ship one) but some people do it...
The same is speeding on the highway sometime you get luck and sometimes you get busted...
