Well its 10 years of SBS1, its still working well.

2 years since outside antennas put up and weathered many a storm. Just goes to show how
well built the product is to work this long.

Well done Kinetic and Chris Taylor for supply quality goods

Did you get yours in January 2005 Mike?

Anmer

I got my SBS-1 in September 2005.

The Kinetic forum kicked off around May 2005.

Does anyone know when the first SBS-1 was shipped? Is there anyone here with a serial number below 500?

Wanted it earlier but could not get to matlock due to snow

And when it was on display only 3 aircraft were on display screen.

My serial is 00737

Horsham Spotter

Roadrunner I got your old SBS1e from Ebay a couple of years ago.

Working great and now used as my mobile unit on caravan trips and
airport visit's.

Currently using SBS3 for reg tie ups etc near Gatwick as these days it must be one of the worst
airports in the uk to spot from.

Always used to use the spotting gallery, bring back the old days and come on
Gatwick time to do something for us sad old spotters.

Regards,
Steve.

I even remember when you could walk down the tops of the piers to spot and also visit the Heleport down the road..  :)

Steve,

I'm glad it still works. I've actually been looking back at my receipts and i got my SBS-1 on 01/11/2005, a year earlier than I said :-\. It was sent to ML&S for upgrade fitment of the Ethernet module in October 2006. They were built to last but I must say that the upgrade caused another part to break so they immediately swapped my box for a new one with the 12v power. In November 2008 I got the SBS-1e and swapped my SBS1 for a Uniden UBC785XLT base scanner. I used then SBS-1e until I upgraded to a new SBS-3 in January 2012.

I have often wondered whether my old ones were still working so thanks for that Steve,

They are without doubt a very well made reliable device and I am not sorry that I used them as my main machines. My Puck 1090 dosn't get as much use as I would like (don't get out that much) but I love the idea of it being on standby against breakdowns.

I do believe that purchasing a Radar-box and the Aurora Eurotech devices was an error and I keep them under the bench as a reminder of that fact. I don't think either of them has a second hand market.....
