Born in Oxford UK. Moved to Connecticut in 1998 now living in Valdosta Georgia USA. Just getting into the hobby. Got my own 25 x 25 old man cave. Now known as the Bunker and the Command Post. The sucky thing living down here is I gave up high-speed internet and found I am living in a place that has violent thunderstorms. So all the antennas have to go up in the attic and have to be grounded too. Live right next door to Moody AFB home of the Flying Tigers A-10C 74 and 75th Squadrons. So get my private airshow most days.

So I am new to this, so any suggestions will be helpful.

Speak to you soon

Welcome CrankyA

For getting started for little financial outlay have a read of the dongle thread

http://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php/topic,2978.0.html

Yes, it is a 37 page thread but it shows how popular that route is.

Have a good read around the forum and don't forget to have a look a the the 'Links & Files' section on the right hand side, lots of good info there.

Whatever your questions you're in the right place!

I have a THUMBNET RTL-SDR, TCXO, R820T2 with a TYPE F CONNECTOR. Got RTL1090 Beta running and using Virtual Radar Server up and running. All my antennas get installed in the attic on Monday. My main problem is I had a below the knee amputation on my left foot two years ago. I'm doing good but I am trying to save my right foot so ladders are out of the question. The other problem is you have rely on others.
Bought a FlightAware 1090MHz ADS-B Antenna which is really working well only being 5 feet off the ground. I can track planes from Macon GA down to Ocala Fl and I am using RG6 cable.

Thanks again for all the help.
