FR24 feed software

I had another go with the new FR24 upload program this morning.

I have managed to get it working!

However, it now appears that you cannot run both the uploader and Basestation at the same time.

After installing the software I started Basestation BEFORE starting FR24 uploader.  It would not connect.  BUT as soon as I close basestation the connection is made.  Checking my FR24 Premier account is has been updated.  If I start Basestation again it cannot connect to the Puck.

This means I cannot "see" any aircraft set for "Interested".

No a good update to the program!

What settings have you got for the FR24 feed?  Can you post your FR24feed.ini file?

Open in Notepad and copy and paste.  But first remove the fr24key line.

I have no idea what all the new options requested when installing the software are but I answered "YES" to them all.  Nor do I understand the lines below . .

receiver="sbs1usb"

fr24key=""

bs="no"

raw="yes"

baudrate="115200"

logmode="0"

mpx="yes"

mlat="no"

mlat-without-gps="no"

I downloaded the latest feeder software for Windows and tried to configure it. I got the message my key was not correct and to retrieve it again, at which point the feeder set up only gave me the option to try again or exit. I tried to get my key but that resulted in the same message about wrong location I got yesterday. Still no reply from FR about that  ???

Sounds like the old 'simple' feeder software has been disabled and everyone has to use the new one with Dump1090 built in, even if you are running an SBS and don't need the Dump software.

logmode="2"
windowmode="0"
mpx="no"

I found this post on the FR24 forum:

http://forum.flightradar24.com/threads/9562-SBS-1-via-USB-on-W10-FR24-Feed-error-authentication-failed-please-help?highlight=basestation

I can help you with that issue. It happens when Basestation is running. Now we can solve this in two ways.

A. If you don't need Basestation for anything else then shut it down and everything should start working.

B. If you need to run Basestation then please do the following.

1. Configure Basestation to connect to TCP rather than USB using the following details:
Settings-> Hardware settings-> Network-> 127.0.0.1, port 20072
2. Edit the fr24feed.ini and add the following line:
mpx="yes"
3. Start FR24 software first so it connects to the SBS-1e over USB
4. Start Basestation that will connect to FR24 software via TCP
5. Make sure to have DATA SOURCE changed to Use Network.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure I want to change my port No. to 20072, it's currently 10001, why does it need to be amended, just to suit FR24?

I had a problem with my key (I had saved it from the first use) when it failed I got a reminder from the FR24 site and I then realised there was an extra character at the end of the key.  It was a + sign.  It work after I removed that character.

Hope this helps.

mmm, not sure I want to change the Basestation to "Network" either.  I would need to change it all back when I'm away from home.

Will need to give some serious thoughts about uploading to FR24.  What was wrong with the previous version it worked and didn't take up resources or thought processes.

Thanks,

Thanks Keith, I also had a + sign at the end, I removed it and that sorted it, at least I have now managed to step through the set up. It doesn't work as it continuously loops saying:

Authentication failed please make sure the specified device is an SBSX receiver

Not sure what to do next, maybe I'll shut everything down and start the FR feed first as that was suggested in point 3 above.

I have the same trouble yesterday FR24 was working now its not, I downloaded the new update and nothing ,no feed ,I've tried all combinations to try to kick-start the programme but I give up
Why change something that was not broken, there's lots of people complaining they cannot feed ,what a shambles

Did you try just starting the FR24 software without Basestation active?  It seems that it wants to connect directly with the SBS hardware, meaning Basestation cannot connect without changing the way in which Basestation works.?  I may be wrong here but that is what it looks like.

Just tried again, closed BaseStation and then started the FR feeder, that gave me a message it couldn't connect - which made some sense as BS wasn't active. Started BS and it seemed to connect OK but then I get the  same message as above;

Authentication failed please make sure the specified device is an SBSX receiver

I have ModeSMixer sitting between my SBS and BS as I feed the output to other nodes on my LAN. I don't know if that is stopping it working. I have not changed the port No. in point 1 above, mine is still showing as 10001.

I guess more trial and error required here.

As Luke pointed out, why change something that has worked flawlessly for ages.

FR24 should be like Flightaware, when you are not sharing for 12 hrs they send you an email stating that. Perhaps FR24 would then realise how many people are not now sharing.

Well I seem to have fixed it  :P

In the initial set up it asked about port 30003 and I just accepted that so it added that to my .ini file. I have now changed that to 10001 and it seems to be feeding OK, one green and one yellow triangle on the icon in the task bar.

Here's my FR24feed.ini file:

receiver="sbs1tcp"
fr24key="removed"
host="192.168.1.90:10001"
bs="no"
raw="no"
logmode="0"
mpx="no"
mlat="no"
mlat-without-gps="no"

Good luck!
