If you are considering the purchase of a new vehicle in the U.K. familiarise yourself with the increased Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates and bands which are effective from 01/04/2017.

Thanks Graham.  I was looking at these new duties yesterday and was rather surprised.

I was planning on getting a new PHEV to avoid VED, only to find I will be paying nearly £500 a year from April!

Mike- If a Phev is still on your wish list may I suggest you examine the running costs of this car,my son opted for a Phev as his company car and has had now for almost a year and whilst he is broadly speaking very satisfied with it especially under the electric power variation it is a very different ball game when using the conventional engine as is needed on longer journeys where it struggles to achieve an acceptable MPG performance,30 to 33 miles per gallon, which makes for expensive motoring given to day fuel costs.Similarly a neighbour of mine had one as a loan vehicle for a month and he also was dismayed at the overall running costs.
I trust that these observations maybe of some interest you.
Kind Regards-

This is " nothing " compared with buying a car in SinkaPoor ( Singapore ).

Buy 1 car here, you can buy 5 similar cars back in your country.
